Are you being bombarded with the message that you should be healthier? We see and hear messages that tell us that we need to be more physically fit. Television, magazines, books, and billboards all deliver the same message: Get in shape! Eat healthier foods! These advertisements are often placed by diners and restaurants promoting their "lighter" menus. You already know the importance of exercising. Yet too many people take this to mean that they need to work out extremely hard day after day. That’s just nonsense. The fact is that your muscles won’t grow or get stronger if you don’t give them time to rest. Muscles don’t improve by tearing the tissue down, but only through a proper rest period.
You would do well to workout hard for a single day and then follow that with an easy workout. For example: do a thorough workout on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. You can then go easier on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays by going for a brisk walk or by doing some pushups or pull-ups.
Do not underestimate the power of a good night’s sleep. We push ourselves to do more and more in our days. So we stay up later at night . Next we wake even earlier. This leaves little time for our bodies to get the rest we so desperately need. Your body repairs the damage of the previous day while you are sleeping. Your body recharges its batteries while you sleep. The average adult must have a minimum of eight hours of sleep a night in order to be in optimal health. Add time to for relaxation into your daily schedule. Sleep is not necessary or required for this step. This time is important so you can de-stress. For some people it’s time spent watching television. A nice relaxing walk is another great idea. You could take a long hot soak in the tub or read a chapter in a book. If you aren’t spending some time each day getting rid of stress it can lead to huge problems for your health. You can of course accomplish this in many ways. You can still live a healthy lifestyle without putting yourself through the ringer or depriving yourself of the things you love. You can work out and eat well without feeling even the tiniest bit inconvenienced. All you have to do to be healthy and fit is to make the decision to live better.
